I was born and grew up in Yokohama. I used to work in Tokyo for more than 20 years. I became the National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in English in 2013. At first, I had attended a volunteer group which provided a tour of the Imperial Palace East Gardens until 2015. I guided more than fifty times in the garden as a volunteer and studied about Japanese history and culture. Based on this experience, I became a tour guide of this online site in 2015. Since then, I have guided more than 500 tours in Tokyo as well as Yokohama, Kamakura, Hakone, Kyoto, Nikko, etc., while improving my tours. My tours are very flexible and I always do my best to customize them according to the interests of my guests. I studied about the places and will provide you knowledge to appreciate them more deeply than just visiting there by yourself or a member of group tours. My tours might be better with people who LOVE TO WALK, have STAMINA and keen to learn about the culture. Now I live within a walking distance from Ueno Park, Tokyo, so I see a lot of International tourists walking around in my neighborhood every day. (PLEASE CHECK EACH TOUR. The expenses are spelled out, too.) "Tokyo is larger than we thought and the transportations are so complicated," Swedish guys told me. I'm here to help you. I know well about Tokyo, Yokohama, Yamanashi etc. and I travel most of the parts of Japan. I would appreciate if you could see more sightseeing spots with me as your guide and enjoy your stay. I love to answer your questions, even though I became nearly breathless when I was with American guests, a family of three, curiously asking me questions after questions:-) I appreciated their interest in Japan very much. I also go mountain trekking for nearly thirty years. I've been to the summit of Mt. Fuji and Mt. Kitadake three times. Talking about Mt. Takao, maybe more than fifty times. “ Off the beaten path tour. ”

Akira will take you to places where locals go for lunch and the best shaved ice. We also stopped by for a coffee made with love. If you are looking to visit Tokyo, off the beaten trail, then, I would highly recomend. Many thanks to Akira, who has been an amzing guide.

“ Very Kind and Knowledgeable Guide ”

We have booked Kaneo for three days. Two in Tokyo and one in Hakone. Kaneo was very accommodating and knew where to take us in Tokyo. As you know, there Tokyo is full of things to do, and he managed to edit the sites so that it was manageable. The tours were very informative and he gave a lot of thought as to where we would most enjoy going to. On top of all that, he helped pick out a restaurant and made dinner reservations for us during our last evening in Tokyo. In Hakone, he showed us the many sites there, and we got to see the locations that make Hakone truly picturesque and unique. In all, Kaneo was an excellent tour guide, and he was very attuned to the needs of his tour group. I highly recommend his services. Mari

“ Tim D is the bomb! ”

This was our first trip to Tokyo and was nervous about navigating transportation. Tim D was a perfect guide for me and my daughter (young adult)-Tim met us at airport and was gracious about our delayed arrival and did a great job teaching us about transportation/finding best route to get to airport next day. He also was great at creating an experience that gave us a taste of nightlife, given we only had a few hours. I'd would completely recommend Tim D. as a guide/companion. Top-notch!
