Kyoto, Japan’s ancient capital, and one of the most popular city to visit in Japan.
On This tour, you will be visiting the major sites in east side of Kyoto city, such as Fushimi Inari Shrine (Thousand Torii gate shrine), and Kiyomizu Temple (13m high wooden stage).
We will be using public transportation (busses and trains) for each destination.

Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Thausand Torii gates.
One of the most photogenic sights in Kyoto is this thausand torii gates lined up in a row.
While we walk through and arround the gates, we will find out the reason why there are so many torii gates and what does it mean.
You may chose to climb up the mountain all the way up, half way up, or just up the entrance where they still have enough gates.
Fushimi district
Sake, the Japanese rice wine, is one of the special offerings to the Shinto deitys.
Good water, good rice and the skill of the brewmaster are indispensabe in order to produce a good sake.
Fushimi is famous for the good quality sake, thanks to the clear spring water, rice and skillful man.
We will visit the sake brewery and have a sip.
Kiyomizu Temple
One of the favorite sights of all Japanese people.
It is famous for its big wide wooden stage built 13m above the ground with out using a single nail.
There is a saying in Japanese which goes, “Jumping off from the stage of Kiyomizu” showing the difficulties to make one’s dicidion.
Today, of course its prohibited to jump off from the stage, but in the past….guess how many people have jumped off and survived? and for what reason ?
We will be seeing how Shintoism ans Buddhism effected the life of Japanese people in the past, and today as we go along these sights.

Currently, I will be basically available on weekends.
My basic guiding area will be around Nagoya, and Kyoto, but I am happy to take your requests if you are interested in something special.
I will be happy to guide you around many places, but since I currently live in Nagoya, I might have to ask for an extra charge for transportation or hotel fees for places such as Tokyo, Hakone, Mt.Fuji, Takayama, Osaka, etc

We were in town for a conference and our sightseeing time was somewhat limited.
