With seven years under my belt living here, I've become your trusted source for all things related to exploring this amazing country. Whether it's navigating the bustling city streets or trekking through scenic nature trails, I've got you covered.
I have extensive experience guiding excursions through mountains, inner city hidden gems, underground music scenes, and scenic day trips in the vicinity of Tokyo. When I'm not guiding, you can catch me indulging in my hobbies of digging into Japanese history, hitting up local shrines, lacing up my running shoes for a jog, scouting out new restaurants, or hitting the trails for a hike.
Originally from sunny SoCal, my roots stretch back to both Japanese and Mexican heritage, with a sprinkle of samurai lineage thrown in for good measure.

Leandra took me off the beaten path of the most touristy sites in Tokyo and gave me a great tour of the city's "Shitamachi" (which means "Downtown", or the areas where regular folks live amongst shops and stores). I recommend going off the beaten path and ask her to take you on similar tours through areas like Yanaka, Ochanomizu and Machiya! You won't regret it. Leandra is a very approachable, intelligent and lively person who's great at conversation - in other words, the perfect guide! I highly recommend choosing your tours with her.
I just completed a 3-day tour of Japan with Leandra and it was an absolute dream! She was awesome, making every moment count in a very tight schedule. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the tranquil temples of Kyoto and the scenic beauty of Osaka, the itinerary was perfectly planned and executed. Day 1 started in Tokyo, where Leandra skillfully balanced modern landmarks with historical traditional spots all the while providing fascinating insights, snippets of history and intrigue and making the city’s energy and history come alive. You’ll have to ask her to take you to the Ninja bar, had an absolute blast there in the evening. Day 2 we went hiking in the mountains to enjoy relaxing hot springs and stunning views of Mt. Fuji. Our guide’s attention to detail, from smooth transportation to insightful recommendations, plus lots of encouragement to get me moving in the trails made everything seamless. Leandra really shines in the mountains and on trails and if you have the energy you will have an absolute blast in the mountains trekking with her. Day 3 was spent in Kyoto and Osaka, where we explored the magical Shrines, bamboo forest, the Osaka castle and the bustling streets of Osaka. Leandra’s knowledge of the history and cultural significance added really depth to each stop. Overall, Leandras expertise, passion and historical knowledge, not to mention bubbly personality and fun factor really transformed my very quick trip into an unforgettable experience and I will definitely use her again on my next trip here. Leandra was not a guide as such but more like a very good friend showing me the best her country has to offer and she really loves what she does. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience Japan in a short, or long time time, especially if you want the hidden gems and back streets away from the tourist traps, with a considerate, flexible and very friendly bubbly guide.
Leandra is passionate, amazing, accomodating and competent tour guide. We loved our tour in the Japanese Alpes. This tour is 12 hours therefore little children and people that cannot walk for long period of time should consider Leandra for a food tour instead But I would definitely and highly recomend Leandra if you want to discover different part of this amazing country. Leandra was a great guide, taking us to see some Funk, Hyperpop, and a fusion of traditional Japanese sounds with electronic elements. The events she chose for us based on our musical preferences exceeded our expectations. For our trip to Hakone Leandra was a great companion and navigated the winding roads of Hakone like a pro. The secret waterfall was a highlight and standing on the top of Mount Kintoki with my son admiring Mount Fuji in the distance will be a life long memory.
